Darlene Heater
Vice President of Neighborhood DevelopmentDarlene Heater serves as Vice President of Neighborhood Development. She joined our team in September, 2006.
As VP of Neighborhood Development, Darlene is responsible for the growth, development and brand awareness for Uptown and South End neighborhoods. Darlene is responsible for fulfilling the urban living brand and facilitates the Urban Living Showcase event held each spring and fall. Darlene also promotes strong Center City communities by working closely with neighborhood associations to connect them with resources, city services and Center City Partners.
Prior to her position at Center City Partners, Darlene was employed as Director of Strategic Partnerships for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Charlotte, NC. There, she was responsible for bolstering community involvement in our public schools and coordinated such events as the CMS Emmy staff appreciation event, the public schools’ foundation launch event and its inaugural fundraising gala. She previously held the position of special event supervisor for CMS where she was also responsible for district events.
Darlene graduated from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to her position at Charlotte Center City Partners, Darlene serves on the boards of Hands on Charlotte, Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful (Vice Chair), the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission Events Committee, and the YMCA Community Connection. Darlene lives in Charlotte with her husband and two children.
