LYNX Blue Line extension art exhibition
February 28, 2013Artwork proposed for the LYNX Blue Line Extension Light Rail Project will be displayed at the McColl Center for Visual Art March 8-30. The artwork will eventually be displayed along the 11 stations, walls, bridges, elevators, bike facilities and park and ride lots along the new sections of the light rail once it has been completed. Eight artists are from the Carolinas: Susan Brenner, Chandra Cox, Sharon Dowell, Daren Goins, Ruth Ava Lyons, Paul Sires, Shaun Cassidy and Tom Stanley. Artists from across the United States include Maria Artemis, June Bisantz, Carolyn Braaksma, Jackie Chang, Anna Valentina Murch and Doug Hollis, and Patricia Leighton and Del Geist.
A public reception will be held at McColl Center for Visual Art’s Innovation Institute facility, Saturday, March 9, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. during McColl Center’s Open Studio. The public is invited to come and meet the artists working on CATS LYNX Blue Line Extension art.
On Friday, March 22 from 6:30 -7:30 p.m., during a gallery reception at McColl Center for Visual Art, a panel discussion will be held with five of the LYNX BLE artists: Shaun Cassidy, Chandra Cox, Susan Cannon, Paul Sires and Tom Stanley.
