Johnson & Wales Announces New Student Center

Johnson & Wales University is proud to announce the planned opening of a new student center during the 2010-2011 academic year. Charlotte Campus President Arthur J. Gallagher says, “Our new student center is a clear demonstration of the success of our students in Charlotte and another example of how our university’s investment and our economic impact on this region will continue to grow in the years to come.”

The new center will be approximately 30,000 square feet and will be built on the residence hall parking lot, adjacent to the Carolina Panthers practice field, on Cedar Street. Currently, residence hall students use the space for parking. Construction is slated to begin early 2010. The building is scheduled to open early 2011.

The new student center will include: - Gymnasium with bleacher seating for 600 - Fully equipped fitness center - Aerobic exercise room - Student activity multi-purpose room - Clubs & Organizations offices and resource rooms - Athletic offices - Varsity and general student locker rooms/showers

The center will serve the JWU student body. This will be home to the JWU Wildcats' basketball and volleyball teams.
