Census Complete Count Road Tour Kickoff

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Census Complete Count Committee is pleased to announce the official road tour kickoff in Charlotte, on January 4. The regional event will include launching the touring information van, music, entertainment and remarks from local officials.

This event will roll out the new 2010 Founders tour vehicle and launch the Charlotte region's "2010 Census Portrait of America Road Tour". This tour is designed to connect directly with the public and explain WHAT the Census is and WHY it is so important. There will be an interactive and educational experience that informs the public about the importance and uses of the Census data.

The primary objectives of the tour are: to emphasize how safe and easy it is to complete the form, to communicate when the form will arrive at households, to show an example of the form and envelope, to communicate that information completed on the form is confidential and private and to emphasize that immigration status is not asked on the form.

The experience will include promotional materials, giveaways, visuals, exhibits and banners that are designed to stimulate curiosity, educate, and appeal to diverse audiences and populations.

The Census Road Tour is presented by a collaborative effort of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Complete Count Committee and the Regional Census Center.
