Winning Cookies at the 8th Annual Cookie Crumble

The milk was cold…the cookies were delectable…the judges were hungry…and one of the cookies had bacon in it. Expect the unexpected at the Center City Green Market when the annual Cookie Crumble competition heats up!

Four restaurant/bakeries/hotels went head-to-head to see which had the best cookie in the Uptown and South End and competition was fierce. Competing were Jason’s Deli, Cloud 9 Confections, Crave Dessert Bar and the Doubletree Hotel. This year, our team of celebrity judges included:

Brendan Croghan, KISS 95.1 Sarah Kennard, 4th Ward Neighborhood/Historic Charlotte Board Mary Kathryn Durr, Gregarious Media Kim Hughes, 704 Events John Schwaller, President, Third Ward Neighborhood Rob Cummings, Four Ward Neighborhood/CCCP Board of Directors Michael Smith (Son of Michael Smith, President & CEO, CCCP), Celebrity Kid’s Choice Judge

There were multiple heats. The celebrity judges made their selections based on a complicated ballot, scoring for appearance, texture, dunkability and overall “yumminess”. Their selections were as follows:

First Place: Chocolate Chip Cloud 9 Confections 1st Runner Up: Candy Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Crave Dessert Bar

Notice, our celebrity judges did NOT fear the bacon!!!!! However, for the first time in the history of the Cookie Crumble, two completely different cookies took the honors in the People’s Choice Category:

Kids Choice: Red Velvet Devil Cookie Crave Dessert Bar Peoples Choice: Cranberry Walnut Jason's Deli

Congratulations to our winners and to all of our fabulous restaurants, bakeries, snack shops and hotels who create incredible cookies in our Center City!
