Chow Down Uptown This Thursday!

Charlotte, NC- On Thursday, June 2, 2011 - Chow Down Uptown-A Food Truck Festival showcases local food trucks and local entertainers. Since its debut on May 12, we have seen delicious choices including organic and local food, duck confit tacos, gourmet pizza, Italian heroes, pastries, cupcakes, philly cheese steaks and more.

Our vendors have included:
• Holy Matrimony -- Wings and Pizza
• Napolitano’s Mobile Lunch & Catering -- Italian specialties
• Southern Cake Queen “A little piece of heaven” -- cupcakes
• Roots Farm Food -- local meats and veggies
• Jim's South Philly Steaks -- cheese steak sandwiches, Italian items
• Sticks and Cones Ice Cream
• Roaming Fork -- famous grilled cheese and pulled pork sandwiches, fried deviled eggs
• Outdoor Feasts -- barbecue
• Cupcake Delirium -- cupcakes and desserts
• Harvest Moon Grille -- natural local items, featuring Grateful Growers' pork
• And one new one in our mix: Sonoran Hot Dogs -- southwest themed hot dogs!

We also have free entertainment from some of the best in Charlotte. So far, we have hosted singer Shana Blake, guitarist Tom Billotto, a Random Act of Culture by the ASC and the NC Dance Theatre, Tom Hanchett and his old-time string band, and Quentin Talley and the Respect Da Mic slam poets group…plus 3-4 buskers each time! We are never sure who will be the entertainment on any given Thursday…it’s guaranteed to be excellent.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own beverages (alcohol is permitted if you’re over 21 years old) and lawn chairs are welcome as well. The event takes place on Thursdays from 5-9:00pm. FREE admission (food vendor pricing applies) and parking is available at the Secure Parking Lot for $5.

Throughout the year, Charlotte Center City Partners and Historic South End bring events and activities to the center of the city, including South End Soul, Presbyterian Hospital July 4th Spectacular, Time Warner Cable BBQ and Blues, First Night Charlotte presented by WBTV, the RBC Centura Tailgate and Pep Rally and the Center City Green Market.
