Flex + Fit Open in Charlotte

Flex + Fit officially opened its first health club location in Charlotte earlier this month.

Flex + Fit is a unique health club concept featuring an on-site instructional cooking kitchen. Local chefs and Johnson & Wales culinary students will gather to teach Flex + Fit members how to prepare quick, healthy, tasty meals for themselves. The cooking kitchen component is balanced with a cutting-edge fitness component.

Flex + Fit has replaced traditional fitness equipment with four state-of-the-art studios: yoga, group exercise, interactive spin and personal training. The health club will specialize in various international fitness classes including Air Yoga, Hot Yoga, Interactive Spin, Ballet Barre Workout, Kickboxing, Buddha Camp, Circuit Fit, Air Fitness, and more.

Shama Patel leads the company, serving as president of Flex and Fit, LLC. The company employs and contracts with over fifty individuals including a full-time GM and Sales/Marketing Director, fitness instructors, personal trainers, culinary students, and chefs.

"We are very excited to open our first location in my home state," says Patel. "Our trendy wellness concept fits perfectly in the unique uptown Charlotte market that offers all of the amenities of a larger city and still maintains the charm of a southern one."

Other amenities at Flex + Fit include plush locker rooms with rain showers, pro shop, tea & smoothie bar, dry cleaning services, 2-hour parking validation, personal training and running club. Flex + Fit will also host corporate and social private events including art receptions. Additionally, the club will be licensed to serve wine to uphold a laid back, social atmosphere. Memberships start at $99/month and individual fitness and cooking classes start at $15/class.

At nearly 10,000 SF, Flex + Fit is the largest retail tenant in the new 54-story Platinum LEED certified Duke Energy Center located at 550 S. Tryon Street. Flex + Fitʼs modern interior will be LEED certified and the club sits on the ground floor of the building.

Flex + Fitʼs sleek interior and upfit was handled by local construction company, Patel Construction Group. Patel Construction Group is an extension of BPR Properties, a real estate development and management company based out of Greensboro, NC.
