Uptown Charlotte Show Chosen as Top 15 Fireworks Show

Charlotte, NC - Charlotte Center City Partners is pleased to announce that the Presbyterian Hospital July 4th Spectacular has been chosen as one of the top 15 fireworks shows in the country by Huffington Post AOL Travel News.

The Presbyterian Hospital July 4th Spectacular takes place at Memorial Stadium (310 North Kings Drive) from 6-10pm. Gates will open at 5:30pm kicking off the family-fun activities leading up to a 9:30pm fireworks show. East Coast Pyrotechnics, Inc. uses over 2,000 lbs of fireworks materials with their largest size shell of 6" caliber (18" circumference) and over 3,000 feet of control cable and wiring. The show is computer controlled and synched to a music track that will be heard exclusively on 96.9FM WKKT, The Kat and played live at all viewing venues.

The fireworks show will be approximately 20 minutes long. The show begins at 9:30pm (weather and fire department clearance permitting). The show can be viewed from a variety of locations around the city. If you are in the eastern part of the city and you can see the skyline, chances are, you can see the fireworks display.

"We are very pleased that the Presbyterian Hospital July 4th Spectacular was selected as one of the Top 15 fireworks shows in the country chosen by Huffington Post AOL Travel News," said Robert Krumbine, Chief Creative Officer of Charlotte Center City Partners. "With July 4th being a major traveling holiday, we are excited about the additional exposure to encourage visitors to make Charlotte a destination for their travel plans and to showcase one of the best fireworks shows in the Southeast for everyone to enjoy."

Sponsors and partners in the evening fireworks display over Uptown’s eastern sky include Presbyterian Hospital, East Coast Pyrotechnics, Inc., Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), 96.9 The Kat WKKT, Mecklenburg County Park and Rec, Conder Flags, The Boy Scouts of America/Mecklenburg County Official/Etowah District and Charlotte Center City Partners. The fireworks are being staged from the Central Piedmont Community College campus. Some streets around the campus will close at 8:00pm to accommodate the fallout zone, so expect traffic delays in that area. Streets will reopen immediately following the show.

There is ample parking around Memorial Stadium and Central Piedmont Community College, but on-street parking will be restricted to keep traffic lanes open as fireworks viewers drive in and out of the city. Parking in the Elizabeth neighborhood is also restricted. Towing will be enforced in areas where parking is restricted.
