Director of Historic South End - Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP)
Charlotte Center City Partners has begun the search for a new Director of Historic South End. Our current Director, James Mathis, is leaving to begin his own business. James and a partner are creating a new venture, although he is not ready to release the details.
James has been a tremendous asset to CCCP and to the businesses and residents of South End. His entrepreneurial spirit has been the spark we needed in South End and he will be very difficult to replace.

Report: Report to VP of Urban Living
Job Summary: The Director of Historic South End (HSE) is the first point of contact for stakeholders in the neighborhood. He or she is responsible for working closely with entire CCCP staff to deliver the projects and initiatives of the Program of Work. Another focus is to leverage the collective resources and relationships of CCCP to advocate for and to serve the stakeholders of Historic South End. The Director will also support the Historic South End Neighborhood Association to enhance this growing urban neighborhood. The Director of Historic South End will oversee activities including, but not limited to:
Planning, Business Retention and Recruitment Work with SVP of Planning & Development to implement sound urban design and development directives. Work with the Transportation Director to enhance transportation strategies. Work with the Economic Development Director to implement business retention and recruitment strategies. Update and maintain associated databases and statistics.
Retail Support and initiate marketing initiatives to promote neighborhood retail (ie: sidewalk sales, marketing campaigns, small stakeholder-driven events, etc).
Urban Living Support the HSE Neighborhood Association. Liaison with residential properties and neighborhood for Urban Living Showcase and other initiatives as directed by VP of Urban Living. The director will work to build connections with the surrounding neighborhoods, such as Wilmore, Dilworth and Sedgefield to support the Neighborhood Association and commerce. Advocate for amenities and infrastructure that enhance the residential and business communities (ie: better pedestrian connectivity, parks, parking, etc).
Internal and External Communications Be responsible for internal communications on behalf of Historic South End stakeholders. Work with the SVP of Communications for external communications and media relations. Communicate weekly with Historic South End stakeholders though updated database. Communicate regularly with CMPD neighborhood officers. Manage HSE Technical team of municipal partners: City of Charlotte, CDOT, CATS, County and Parks and Recreation.
Events Liaison Work with Chief Creative Officer to help shape events and energize Historic South End stakeholders to maximize event benefits. Acts as the events liaison between the stakeholders and the CCCP events team.
Experience: At least 5-plus years of work experience in direct or related fields. A 4-year degree is required.
