New Volunteer Project this Weekend

On Saturday, May 30, Hands On Charlotte, CMS and Charlotte Center City Partners will launch a long-term partnership to provide an opportunity for the Charlotte community to help and connect with public school communities.

There are seven schools within a three-mile radius of Trade and Tryon with a long list of needs that can be effectively addressed with the manpower and commitment of volunteers. Hands On Charlotte and Charlotte Center City Partners are teaming up to help provide those volunteers.

The Big Project calls for a concentrated effort once a month at a high-needs school. The school community has identified the schools to be helped and Hands On Charlotte will provide the volunteers. Each project will take approximately three hours, usually on the last Saturday of the month, for a total of 300 volunteer hours. The hope is to provide real value to our schools at a time when budget cuts are forcing schools to make deep budget cuts.

Throughout the year, Hands On Charlotte provides direct volunteer service to the Charlotte community. Our volunteers address our community's most pressing needs through direct service.

Charlotte Center City Partners facilitates and promotes the economic, cultural and residential development of the urban core.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is a nationally recognized, city-county school district serving more than 137,000 students. CMS and its 19,000 employees are focused on making sure all students are globally competitive. For more information, visit www.cms.k12.nc.us.
