Charlotte Rescue Mission’s Summer of Hope “Pantry Pounding” Campaign 2009
In one of the worst economies since the Great Depression of 1929, the beds of the Charlotte Rescue Mission continue to remain full. The Charlotte Rescue Mission serves over 400 meals every day during the summer months. We are asking the community to help us in an old fashioned “Pantry Pounding”.
“Pounding” is an event where friends and neighbors get together and bring large quantities of staple foods such as flour, sugar, rice, etc. to help stock the pantry of a newly married couple or a family new to the neighborhood. While Charlotte Rescue Mission is not new to the neighborhood (we’re over 70 years old!), our pantry does provide hundreds of meals for some of our neediest neighbors.
We are asking the community to help us stock our pantry shelves. Consider donating any of the following: Flour, Green beans, spaghetti, vegetable oil, canned corn, rice, sugar, canned and fresh vegetables, macaroni. Large, warehouse- club sizes are particularly helpful.
