Chief Operating Officer & Senior Vice President of Communications
As Senior Vice President of Communications and Chief Operating Officer for Charlotte Center City Partners, Moira is responsible for the daily operations of Center City Partners, including budgeting, facility operations, contracts, HR and CCCP’s contractual relationship with the City of Charlotte. She is also responsible for internal & external communications with Center City stakeholders and media relations.
Moira’s background revolves primarily around media and management. Moira started at WBTV, the CBS affiliate in Charlotte, as a college intern. She became a studio cameraman and was the first woman in Charlotte to work as a full-time TV news photographer. During the ‘80’s Moira co-hosted, produced stories for and served as interim producer the TV show PM Magazine.
Moira left TV for a few years to be a full-time mom. She then came back as a specialty reporter in the TV news department, spent a few years at 1110 WBT as an on-air personality and producer, then returned to television as a News Anchor then as Executive Producer in the television news department.
Moira joined Center City Partners in September 2002.
She is a graduate of Queens University of Charlotte where she is Trustee Emeritus and on the Board of Advisors for the Knight School of Communication. Moira has also served on the Board of Trustees and the Alumni Association where she was President during the University’s Sesquicentennial.
Moira is Immediate past President of Temple Beth El, North Carolina’s largest Reform congregation, a member of the Charlotte Jewish Federation Community Relations Council and Mecklenburg Ministries’ Friday Friends Steering and Interfaith Thanksgiving Service Committees. She is on the Boards of the Metro Chapter of the Charlotte Chamber, May 20th Society and Carolinas Freedom Foundation. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Women Executives, the CRVA’s Visitor Advisory Committee and was Co-Chairman of the Media Committee for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Complete Count Committee.
Moira has been named Queens University’s Alumni of the Year, Recipient of NAWBO of Charlotte’s Community Service Award, Irish Woman of the Year, Life in Charlotte’s Media Professional of the Year and Charlotte Jewish Federation Woman of Strength recognition. Moira volunteers at the Matthews Library most Saturdays and is a pheresis donor at the American Red Cross.
She has two sons and two grandchildren. 29-year old Devin is a Broadcast Engineer at Speed Channel in Charlotte. He and his wife Heidi are parents of Victoria, born November 27, 2007 and Max, born New Year’s Day 2010. 23-year old David is an Account Executive at Fusion Logistics in Charlotte.
