Permanent Road Closure Notice
400 Block of West Third Street
The 400 block of West Third Street between South Graham Street and South Mint Street and the 500 block of the West 3rd-4th Connector Street is PERMANENTLY close as of Monday, December 10, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. This is for construction of the new Charlotte Knights Baseball Stadium.
Inbound motorists on West Fourth Street that want to continue to West Third Street should follow West Fourth Street to South Mint Street to West Third Street (shown in blue on below map). The 400 and 500 blocks of West Fourth Street have been converted for two-way operation. Motorists are advised to use caution due to the new traffic pattern and continued construction activity.
CATS will not be affected.
Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled, and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, City traffic engineers work directly with other City staff and contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public.
Pedestrians walking near work zone areas should be alert, cautious and allow extra traveling time. It is advised they cross at signalized intersections, use pedestrian walk signals where available and abide by detour signage.
Motorists traveling through work zone areas should be alert and extra cautious. Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone. Drivers should double their following distance.
