Queen City Jazz Fest Kicks Off with Lunch Hour Pop-Up ConcertsJune 13, 2016 5:02 pm
Your lunch hour next week just got a lot livelier! The Queen City Jazz Fest kicks off next Thursday, June 16 and Friday, June 17 with midday jazz performances throughout Uptown. The festivities continue into Saturday, June 18 with the second annual Queen City Jazz Fest, hosted at the Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheater.
There are four performances Thursday, all running from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Patrons are encouraged to bring snacks or purchase lunch from local vendors while enjoying the city sights and melodic sounds. Thursday’s free concerts will be:
- Government Center – Willie Walker & Conversation Piece
- Wells Fargo Plaza – Charlotte Jazz Orchestra
- Polk Park – A Sign of the Times Band
- Father’s Day Pop Up Market at 212 S. Tryon St. – Chad Lawson Trio
Friday’s “No Free Lunch” event will feature Ziad Rabbie and the Charlotte Jazz All-Stars at the Wells Fargo Plaza. “Vic the Chili Man” will be selling his famous hot dogs, and the first 1,000 people to sign up for the new Charlotte Center City email newsletter will receive a free Chili Man hot dog.
