Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center ReopensJune 1, 2016 3:54 pm
The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center reopened June 1 after a year-long renovation. The MCAC is a world class natatorium that includes a 50-meter competition pool, 25-yard therapeutic pool, fitness center, and hot tub. It is open to the public for lap swimming, water exercise, swim lessons and much more.
The MCAC has already hosted the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series at Charlotte, and will play host to the 2016 Paralympic swimming trials next month as Charlotte continues to become Swim City.
The aquatic center opened in 1991 as the area’s only 50-meter indoor pool. The $8.6 million project included significant renovations including updates to the lobby, locker rooms, pools and bleachers—among other improvements.
