Charlotte Center City Partners operates a number of programs that serve the public realm in Uptown, including food trucks, vending, and public media. Information about these programs and how to participate in them is available below. For additional inquiries, please contact Program Director Jamie Hundley.
Banner space is available on five over-street locations in Uptown, and on light poles along Tryon Street. Banner space is assigned on a first-come first-serve basis, based on availability, and is only permitted to be used for events taking place within Center City.
Kiosk poster space is available at locations in the Uptown area, which can be used to promote events that are happening in the Center City. These posters cannot be purchased as traditional advertising. Interested groups may submit an application to Charlotte Center City Partners, which reviews and schedules locations. Guidelines on amount of space devoted to sponsor logos apply.
Vendors are permitted on Tryon Street between Stonewall and 9th Streets, and on the 100 blocks of Trade Street. Contact Jamie Hundley for more information about the program.
Tryon Street Mall Use
Polk Park, Independence Square Plaza, and other sections of the Tryon Street Mall Plaza are availible for various forms of public use. An application is required per event. Applications are reviewed on a first come, first serve basis.
The City of Charlotte's newsrack ordinance allows for the installation of modular newsracks in Uptown on Tryon Street. A lottery and draft will be conducted to determine the allocation of spaces in this program.
Center City Food Truck Program
Charlotte Center City Partners administers the food truck program in Uptown and frequently curates food trucks for events throughout the Center City. We maintain a database of local food truck operators that meet permitting guidelines. Contact Jamie Hundley for more information about the program.
