The Iron District is the mixed-use reimagining of the 55-acre Charlotte Pipe & Foundry property along the border of Uptown and South End, set to begin construction this year. For the first project, master developer Trammell Crow will construct a six-story, 278-unit apartment building with a parking structure and 24,333 square feet of retail space. The larger first phase of the development will comprise up to 500 residential units, 150,000 square feet of Class A office space, and 100,000 square feet of retail on a 12-acre site at the northern end of the property.
