On May 14th and 15th, from Noon to 4 pm each day, the Friends of Fourth Ward will host the Secret Gardens of Fourth Ward tour. Homeowners on the tour will open their rarely-seen private gardens to the public – revealing the secret green worlds tucked behind courtyard walls. This walkable, self-guided tour includes admission to a variety of private gardens, as well as docent-led tours of Fourth Ward Park and the historic Elmwood/Pinewood Cemeteries. Additional tour attractions include: Free beer, food and craft cocktail tastings, courtesy of Muddy River Rum Distillery, Cardinal Gin, Doc Porter’s Vodka, Rock Bottom Brewery & more; $1.00 oysters from Sea Level NC; free B-Cycle and horse-drawn carriage rides; and complimentary “bites” & appetizers at The Asbury, The Poplar Street Café, and Rock Bottom Brewery.
The tour also will highlight public art, historic homes and special points of interest along the tour route, effectively making all of Historic Fourth Ward –and the extraordinary quality of life it offers – part of the tour.
Tickets ($20), are good for either day. TICKETS & INFO: www.fofw.org. Proceeds benefit projects of the non-profit Friends of Fourth Ward neighborhood association.
