Rick Thurmond
Senior Vice President, Community Development
As Senior Vice President for Community Development, Rick leads a team of leaders that builds community in Uptown and South End through organizing, advocacy, programming, placemaking, and visioning. Rick also leads special programs and initiatives, including the Music Everywhere CLT initiative and the Center City Ambassadors program, that help make Center City Charlotte a more livable, memorable, vibrant, inclusive, welcoming, and sustainable place.

Prior to joining Charlotte Center City Partners, Rick led the Charlotte office of a media company, including the flagship title of Charlotte magazine.

Rick has served on numerous community boards and is currently on the board of the North Carolina Downtown Development Association and Historic Elmwood-Pinewood, Inc. A native of Tallahassee, Rick holds a BA in English from Davidson College and is an MBA candidate at Wake Forest University School of Business. Rick lives in Charlotte with his wife, Ashley, and their daughter, who is a student in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg system.
