Formerly part of the historically African American Brooklyn neighborhood, the 17-acre Brooklyn Village project is envisioned as a phased mixed-use development including retail, apartments, office, hotel, and open space. The developer initially selected to lead the project sold the Phase 1 site in May 2026, and Charlotte-based First & Early Capital now owns the land bounded by Brooklyn Village Avenue, McDowell Street, I-277, and Alexander Street.
