Atrium Health, in partnership with Wexford Science & Technology, has recently wrapped phase one of The Pearl, a mixed-use innovation district that will eventually include education, retail, residential, open space, hotels, and cutting-edge research and development facilities. The medical school tower and 330,000-square-foot research 1 building have opened, housing Wake Forest University School of Medicine and IRCAD, a French research and training institute for surgeons. As a large, multi-phase project, total development figures are still being finalized.
