Erin Gillespie

Planning and Development Associate

As a Planning & Development Associate, Erin administers the implementation strategies of long range planning initiatives for Center City. She is the project manager for the Charlotte Rail Trail, a 4-mile pathway adjacent to the Blue Line envisioned to become a linear commons in Uptown and South End. She manages project consultants, grants, communications, and community engagement strategies. Recently, she has been involved with the North Tryon Vision & Implementation Plan.

Prior to joining the Center City Partners team, she was the Director of Housing Development at East End Community Services in Dayton, OH. She oversaw housing development efforts in the Twin Towers neighborhood representing over $13 million in equity. She also worked on neighborhood and economic development efforts in East Dayton. She also worked at the Downtown Dayton Partnership and facilitated the implementation efforts of the Greater Downtown Dayton Plan, an economic development strategic plan. She developed and co-led Activated Spaces, a volunteer-led vacant storefront and pop-up retail campaign. She also served as the chair of UpDayton, a nonprofit dedicated to the attraction and retention of young talent in the Dayton region.

Erin earned a Master of City and Regional Planning degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she served as the chair of the Diversity Committee. She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture degree from North Carolina State University. She is a proud graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.

After work, Erin can be found exercising her culinary muscle in the kitchen or exploring a new park with her partner, John, and her son.
