Steven Cole

Director of Communications

As Director of Communications, Steven Cole is primarily responsible for advancing the communications objectives of Charlotte Center City Partners. He performs the media relations and social media roles, writes internal and external communications pieces, and creates communications plans for the organization, specific projects, programs and events.

Steven is a former U.S. Army officer bringing to his role deep national and international public relations experience gained from his previous roles including: the public affairs officer for the Army’s official ceremonial unit, “The Old Guard”, in Washington D.C., media relations officer for NATO forces in Kabul, Afghanistan, Army fellow at Fleishman-Hillard in Washington, D.C., and the Army’s liaison to the film and TV industry in Los Angeles, CA.

Prior to these public relations assignments, Steven taught African and European history at West Point, and served in numerous management and staff positions in armor and cavalry organizations.

A native Charlottean, Steven holds a Bachelor of Science degree in history from the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. and a Masters of Arts in African history from the University of Maryland, College Park.
