White Lodging, the development group behind the JW Marriott in Uptown, broke ground in July 2026 on a 14-story, 295-room luxury hotel at the corner of Bland and South Tryon Streets. The hotel is awaiting a final name but will be part of the Marriott Autograph Collection. It will include 10,000 square feet of meeting space, a ground-floor restaurant, and an open-air pool deck - including a sauna, hot- and cold-plunge pools, spa, restaurant and bar - on the fifth floor. The hotel is expected to be complete in late 2028.
